Throw Basics with Q

On PC, press Q while holding a keycap to throw it toward your aim direction. Place the Keycaps! uses throws to speed sorting across pile-to-keyboard distances. Throws follow an arc — not instant teleport — so height and distance both matter.

Pick up a cap, stop moving, angle camera so target slot sits center screen, press Q. Beginners should land ten successful Enter or Space throws before practicing number row targets.

Distance and Arc Control

Short throws need minimal camera tilt; long throws from pile edge need higher arc aim toward far board corners. Overshoot usually means you moved during Q or aimed too high.

Common Mistakes and Fixes

Moving while throwing — stand still. Wrong camera lock — CTRL unlock and zoom. Throwing into crowded piles — stage clutter first.

Throw Chains and Flow State

Advanced players chain throws by picking up the next cap while the previous throw is still in flight, then adjusting aim during the short recovery window.
