Place the Keycaps! Walkthrough
Step-by-step walkthrough for Place the Keycaps! on Roblox: from first spawn through sorting your first pile and completing a keyboard collection entry.
Joining and First Spawn
Open Roblox and search Place the Keycaps! by KEYBOARDS!!!!! or use the official experience link from this wiki. Press Play and wait for the map to load. You spawn in the main hub near sorting areas — not a tycoon base with passive machines. Take ten seconds to look for pile markers, keyboard desks, and any tutorial NPC or arrow decals.
Open Roblox settings if needed to adjust graphics and sensitivity before touching caps. Sorting games punish stutter during throws. On PC, remember Q throws and CTRL unlocks mouse per the controls guide. Mobile players should skim mobile controls before walking to a pile.
If a daily or session objective UI appears, read it once. Objectives in beta may ask for a row completion count or a specific colorway. Pin mental priority to that goal while learning basics.
Your First Pickups
Approach the nearest keycap pile. Click or tap caps on the top layer first — buried caps are harder until you clear overhead clutter. Pick up a large key like Enter or Shift to feel carry animation and camera behavior. Do not hoard ten caps at once if inventory limits exist; one or two at a time is safer early.
Walk to an empty keyboard station shown on the map guide. Match the cap shape to an outline on the board. Successful placement usually snaps or highlights green. Wrong slots reject or wiggle — retrieve the cap and retry rather than forcing.
Repeat until one full row is filled, often the number row or long modifier row depending on tutorial design. Row completion teaches that sorting is systematic, not random grabbing.
Introducing the Q Throw
Once walking feels slow, practice Q throws from a fixed stand near the pile edge. Pick up a cap, aim at an empty slot, press Q. Watch arc height. Short throws beat overthrows on small keys. Detailed technique lives in the throw guide, but walkthrough players should land five successful throws before advancing.
If throws miss repeatedly, press CTRL to unlock mouse, reposition camera downward, lock back in, and try stationary throws. Movement during Q causes most beginner misses.
Combine throws with walking for long distances across the map hub. The walkthrough milestone is hitting a slot you could not reach by hand without stepping forward mid-throw.
Clearing a Partial Pile
Work top-down through the pile layer by layer. Sort modifiers and spacebars when their slots are visible before tiny alphas fill gaps incorrectly. Stage wrong-color caps in a neutral corner if the map provides one — returning them later beats mixing into wrong sets.
When the pile respawns or shrinks, note whether rare colorways appeared. Screenshot undocumented caps for wiki updates on the items page. Beta piles may reset while your placed caps stay on boards.
Session end goal: reduce one pile from chaotic heap to mostly flat staging area with caps either placed or sorted into return stacks.
Completing Your First Collection Entry
Fill every slot on one keyboard layout. Collection UI should register the set — check catalog menus for a new entry or progress bar tick. If completion fails silently, verify missing silhouettes and hunt those legends in remaining piles using the collection guide.
Celebrate the first completion, then choose your next target using the tier list priorities. Walkthrough ends here; advanced players loop sorting, throwing, and collection chasing indefinitely until beta updates reshape goals.
No codes or scripts are required for this walkthrough. Avoid shortcuts from the scripts page warnings. Fair sorting teaches skills that patches will not erase.
